
Risteard McDonald
Risteard ‘Rish’ McDonald is currently Head of People Policy in the MoJ, and was previously Head of Equalities, Diversity, and Inclusion in HMPPS and a Senior Racial Disparities Policy Lead. Prior to his career in the Ministry of Justice, he worked for a Neurodiversity charity and in a variety of strategy and HR roles across the public sector. He is an audit committee member for the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner, a trustee of a community centre founded by his Dad in 1993, a former Magistrate, and a publishing academic in the fields of criminology and religious studies, with a focus on ritual, chaplaincy, and sacred space. Outside of work, he is heavily involved with Norse Paganism, particularly organising intense ritual experiences known as ‘seiðr’, and spends much time hiking across the Peak and Lake Districts, chasing stone circles.
