Jim’s love of the outdoors and the challenges of leading teams led to a 37-year career in the Royal Marines. He led various military organisations and served in a wide variety of roles from HR to strategy development and also in Whitehall, as the military assistant to two Defence Secretaries and subsequently the Prime Minister. After leaving the Armed Forces, he joined World Sailing, where he served as the Director of Events and then joined VoCoVo (a retail communications technology company) as the Chief of Staff. He will shortly take up the appointment as Chief Executive of the Bar Council.  

Jim has been a member of the ABoB Portsmouth community for five years, having been inspired to join by his previous career experiences that demonstrated how mentoring, accountability and positive role modelling can unlock the potential that might otherwise remain unrealised in young men.
